STOCKTON, Calif. –The City of Stockton will host a public ribbon cutting to mark the opening of its New City Hall on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will take place in the parking lot in front of the flag poles at 501 W. Weber Avenue.
The move marks a new chapter for the city government. Historic City Hall, dedicated in 1926 at 425 N. El Dorado Street, has served Stockton for a century. The opening of the New City Hall in 2026 brings most city services together in one downtown location and reflects the modern city that Stockton continues to become.
"For a century, Historic City Hall has stood as a symbol of our community's resilience, and it will continue to serve Stockton for years to come," said Mayor Christina Fugazi. "As we open the doors to our new home on Weber Avenue, I am proud of what this moment represents for our residents: a city government ready for the future while honoring everything that brought us here. On behalf of the entire City Council, we celebrate this new beginning for Stockton, one that looks ahead with confidence while respecting our rich and deep history."
"This is a proud day for Stockton," said City Manager Johnny Ford. "Our New City Hall brings the services residents use most into one place and makes it easier to do business with the City. I want to thank the staff and the project team who worked to make this happen, and I look forward to welcoming our community through these doors on July 7."
Most used city services, including utility bill payment, permits, special event applications, and parking, are located on the first floor of Building 2 with the new City Council Chambers located on the first floor of Building 1.
The City Council will hold its first meeting in the new Council Chambers that afternoon at 1 p.m.
Historic City Hall will remain in city use, providing additional office space for the Community Services Department and the Office of Violence Prevention.
The New City Hall project was overseen by the City's Public Works Department, with construction by Roebbelen Contracting, Inc., and design by Indigo Hammond + Playle Architects.
